Day by Day Journey
Day 1 | Arrival in Lima
The Pacific meets you first. A private transfer to Lima’s most elegant district. Rest, or perhaps a taste of Peru’s culinary genius—a gentle introduction to what awaits. The Amazon waits; there’s no rush.
Day 2 | Lima’s Cultural Layers
Your guide knows where the stories live—colonial architecture rising atop pre-Columbian foundations, the Plaza de Armas where Peru declared its independence, the catacombs of San Francisco Monastery that hold centuries of silence. The Larco Museum in the afternoon: the most complete pre-Hispanic collection of gold, silver, and art that makes you think differently about history.
Day 3 | Lima to Cusco
A morning flight carries you over the Andes to Cusco, the ancient capital of the Inca Empire. The air is thinner here, the light sharper. This afternoon is about acclimatization—gentle walks through San Blas, where artisans maintain workshops passed through generations. Your body needs time to adjust; we honor that.
Day 4 | Cusco’s Ancient and Colonial Layers
A private Andean cultural specialist reveals Cusco’s layered history: Koricancha, the Temple of the Sun, where Inca stonework supports Spanish arches; Sacsayhuamán, the fortress whose megalithic masonry defies explanation; Q’enqo and Tambomachay, where the Incas read the stars. This is history that still breathes.
Day 5 | Cusco to Puerto Maldonado — The Amazon Beckons
A short flight descends from the Andes to the Amazon basin. The air grows thick, warm, alive. In Puerto Maldonado, a private boat carries you down the Madre de Dios River. The city fades; the rainforest closes in. The lodge appears through the trees—a cluster of thatch-roofed cabañas that feel like they’ve always been there.
This afternoon, you learn the sounds: how to listen to a place that never stops talking.
Day 6 | The Amazon Awakens
Dawn comes early here, and the forest is already alive. Birds, howler monkeys, the first light through the canopy. Your naturalist guide translates the sounds, revealing a world that most people never notice. Afternoon on the river—caimans, river dolphins, life that thrives in these waters.
The Amazon doesn’t perform; it simply exists, and you’re lucky enough to witness it.
Day 7 | Deep in the Rainforest
Hiking trails through primary forest. Your guide reveals medicinal plants, hidden wildlife, the intricate web of Amazonian life. Then the Canopy Walkway—bridges 42 meters high, the forest from a perspective few ever see. From above, the rainforest feels like a different world entirely.
The afternoon remains open. Perhaps more exploration. Perhaps quiet reflection.
Day 8 | The Amazon’s Hidden Corners
Lake Sandoval by canoe—a mirrored surface that holds the sky. Giant river otters. Caiman. The extraordinary birdlife of the reserve. Wildlife is never guaranteed—but the possibility is what makes the search meaningful. This is not a zoo; it’s a wild place where every sighting feels like a gift.
Evening brings the sounds of night: a different world awakening.
Day 9 | The Amazon’s Stillness
A day of choice. Perhaps further exploration deeper into the reserve. Perhaps quiet reflection at the lodge—reading in a hammock, napping to the rhythm of rain on palm leaves, simply being present. The rainforest offers both adventure and peace, demanding only that you show up.
Day 10 | Return to Lima
Morning boat transfer to Puerto Maldonado. Flight to Lima. The Amazon remains in your memory—its sounds, its smells, its profound quiet. You leave different from how you arrived.
